The Real Mr. Irrelevant: Arlen Specter

Just when you thought the New England Patriots' Spygate episode had died down, Good Ol' Congressman Arlen Specter (R-Pa) has to go and take his turn at beating the already dead horse. Specter told the New York Times on last Thursday that, “The American people are entitled to be sure about the integrity of the game. It’s analogous to the CIA destruction of tapes. Or any time you have records destroyed.” The last time I was at the gas pump, I do not recall having a conversation with the fellow American standing next to me on the "integrity of the game." As a matter of fact, Our conversation revolved more around the rediculous price of gas, the cost of living going up and the chances of living going down. Personally, I am sick of politicians like Specter wasting valuable tax dollars to investigate issues that have no bearing on American citizens keeping food on their tables.

With this upcoming election, the American people will have the final word on the direction this country will take for the next four years. I admonish you Senator Specter and the rest of your cohorts on Capitol Hill, to quit the grandstanding, start listening to the people and get back to focusing on the things that matter most. Instead of focusing on the NFL, Roger Goddell and the New England Patriots, why don't you work on things like the stimulus package, border security, the sub-prime mortgage fiasco. What the American people are entitled to and so richly deserve is to have responsible government officials and representatives that remember that they actually work for and should always act in the best interest of the American people.
